AUX cable????
Is there a way to plug and AUX cable like for an ipod into the stock radio? My radio isn't the exact stock one but i think it maybe some stock one either from a diff yr. like it almost looks exactly the same as the stock one jus a lil diff. it does say aux on the face of it but theres no imput hole to plug a aux cable into on the face. could it be behind the radio? or do i gotta get like a whole wiring harness and do it the hard way?

post up a picture of it
may have one on the back |
Not positive, but I think you'd have to wire one. I remember seeing a write up somewhere a long time ago where a guy showed what/where to solder one on.
But why not just get a new HU? Better sound quality, and tons of them have aux/USB inputs, not to mention controls for your iPod. |
If the stock head unit doesn't have an Aux input, then you aren't going to be just soldering something on it to make one. The entire thing is not engineered to have it and you can't do it.

It does say AUX on the front of it. i jus don't see a port to plug in the cable. so im guessin it may be on the back??? if its not i dont think im gonna go through the hassle of buying the harness and tryin to do it or install it. for that money i would go out and jus buy a new HU. im jus askin if there would be one on the back and then maybe i culd jus run a cable from behind my dash out

Post up a picture I bet though it is not a stock radio
and it does have one on the back What happens when you push the AUX button |
nothing really. cuz i figured nothing was plugged in. it looks pretty stock. i can't take a pic this second. i'm gonna tear it out tomorrow and jus take a look and i'll try to get some pics while im doin everything. i'll let ya know what i find out

It look like any one of these they are all 01-03 stock radios

When I pulled the stock radio out of my truck, it had rca hookups in the back for the aux input. The cable to run from rca to ipod earphone jack is pretty cheap.
|
Thats not a stock head unit then. You're lucky.

AUX wasn't an option on the stock trucks until like 06 or 07 I think... unless for some reason you have one of those head units. In those cases the inlet for the plug is below the temp control knobs... but I'm gonna guess you don't have a stock HU.

no i don't. my radio isn't like one of those but is still looks very stock. Mine has buttons very similar to the one in this guys pic. but mine says aux somewhere on it.
http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t...stockradio.jpg lol its hard to describe. just like one of those but a lil diff. Mine does not have that cassette deck though but the face of it is almost identical. i no the rca cables i jus gotta see if the input is back there or not. but thats where i hook up the aux cable?? i thought ppl use those for subs?? |
