99 ranger parking brake

Ok, to make a long story short. My parking brake cable snapped near the pedal/release. Upon snapping, the pedal spring itself broke. I am now looking through salvage yards trying to replace the pedal. My problem: When I find the correct pedal, how am I going to get the actual cable connected? As you can see from the pictures below, I am unable to remove this cable. I have been looking all over the internet for a manual to no avail! if anyone has had experience with this issue please let me know. It is VERY annoying to park with out a break (it is a manual) and my truck has started to lose engine pressure (which makes parking on a hill in gear risky..) any websites would be very useful! Please mind the rust (it has been in the back of my truck since it was removed)[IMG][/IMG]

Is the pedal released in the photo?

Did you ever get this resolved?

I am replacing the front section of the cable near the pedal and I've been having alot of trouble removing the old cable housing. Does anyone know how to remove the old cbale housing and install the new one? My trucks a 5 spd too and I use the park brake all the time! Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!!!
