i running the stock 15" steelies for now and what i did was took a a peice of sheet metal and cut out a 5" piece and put it up to the tire and it would hit the out side edge of the fender. ive heard of people rubbing the in side of the plastic on the in side wheel well and im just going to trim it. im just wooried about tire and metal fender rubbing

I just looked at my tires and they are 225/70/15. I think if I get 205/50/15 I should be good what u think

Johnbaum13 01-04-2010 12:24 PM

205/50R15 would be WAY too small. I'm 4" dropped with 235/50R17s, and I only rub the inner fender on largish bumps. When I was running the stock 225/70R15 tires, I would rub about the same.

For you, the smallest tir I would run would be a 215/60R15. That would be a 2" shorter tire, so you shouldn't have any issues with rubbing. it would throw off the speedo a bit if run on the rear though. When the speedo is reading 60, with 215/60R15 tires you would be going 55.

On a side note, you know that you're gonna have alot of rake with that setup? You need to drop the rear 1.5-2" more than the front to sit level.

I'm going to leave the back tire stock size. I'm going to flip the rear hanger at some point. My boss is going to let me use the shop depending how long it take to do the front swap and the flip I might torch off the hanger rivets and flip it. Thanks for the tire info. 2" lower will help a lot in the front tire clearance. I don't think it should be that hard to swap parts. I'm a diesel mechanic so I know my way around tooolls. Thank for the hhelp guys. Any more info any 1 has I will take it all in

well, If you're keeping stock size in the back, that will solve the speedo issues, but accentuate the rake.

rollinglowrange 01-04-2010 06:45 PM

shouldn't the rake be the same as stock just lower? and u thig the 215/60r/15 font wont rub when turning on the outter fender
i plan on getting some 17 or 18 in the spring

thats what i'm running on there for winter, and for a 4" drop i'm squeezing it pretty good, it rubs on the inner fender well when i am at lock... i can't see trying to use that size tire on a 5" drop:eek:

rollinglowrange 01-04-2010 07:28 PM

yea i know the 225/70/15 wont fit i know they will rud the inner fennder and the outer. im tring to find the right size tire
i might wait a lil longer to drop it till we r clear of the snow i dont want to plow the roads haha

FoMoCo 01-04-2010 07:30 PM

yeah, i hear ya, right now i'm running 225/60/16's with no rubbing issues

rollinglowrange 01-04-2010 08:30 PM

if i do 7 in the back could i do a bolt in notch the frame a lil later

FoMoCo 01-04-2010 09:50 PM

i'm thinkin you have to do a bolt in notch when you go 7, i about 1/2 away from my cut bumpstops with a 5" in the rear
