Why is my truck missing and sputtering?

Just as the title implies my truck started acting funny at a stoplight, then accelerating the truck was bucking, missing, and sputtering, it was snowing a wet snow pretty good at the time, I pulled over, put it in park shut off my heater, stereo, and sat for about 5 mins, took off again and about 4 miles down the road it started doing it again, I was on a hill and my RPMS went up but it didnt want to move, it was doing this the next mile til I got to work, then I pulled in the driveway to my job and stepped on it, and it went no problems, so is this a fuel problem, did snow get into my intake and clog it up, or is the computer, any help is greatly appreciated,

Thank you,
Jeremy

I'm having a similar problem, not sure where to start either

Simple fix for mine. May work for you. Took my mass airflow sensor out and sprayed it real well with brake cleaner, got alot of grayish black residue off of it and the screen. Took it down the road just now and seems to have fixed my issue, the real test will be my 60 mile drive to work tomorrow

I had that problem, took the alternator off, took it to autozone, they told me thats not the reason but hooked it up to their machine anyways, guy turned around and apologized to me because the alternator was dead, put in a new alternator and had to clean the IAC because it wouldnt idle long before shutting off.

if this is happening only when there is snow IN THE AIR..........then you should makes sure you have the stock air intake installed properly along with the standard MOTORCRAFT air filter...............clean the maf while you are at it..........

brake clean could hurt your sensor. its not made to work on those things. yea it works really good at getting shit off but they make MAF sensor cleaner also.

Re: Why is my truck missing and sputtering?

What he said ^^^ brake fluid can trash the $100 MAF. Spend $5 on the CRC

Took the truck to the shop today, and my throttle body is hella dirty, like caked with grease and stuff, taking it back in tomorrow to get it cleaned, it makes those two sensors stick and run choppy. The whole intake is totally stock.. has a fram air filter, brand new.

Glad you are figuring it out. Obviously they will clean the MAF and the air charge sensor. If I was you I would pull that intake of and clean it with soap and water.

Re: Why is my truck missing and sputtering?

for anyone still reading this, the best things to do is spray the MAF chip with MAF cleaner, not brake fluid or brake cleaner. costs about 8 bucks a can so do that before taking it to a shop where they charge you for a diagnosis. second, the IAC, idler air control, can be taken off and cleaned. let it dry before putting it back on. if those dont solve your rough idle, check the plugs themselves, or the coil.

Re: Why is my truck missing and sputtering?

He waived the fee for the diagnostic, and he has this intake cleaner that he pumps through the intake. any thoughts on this?
