Front end collision rebuild 2001 4x4

Soo about 3 weeks ago I tried dodging a deer in icy weather , then over steered, panicked over steered some more.... fishtailed about 6 times then hit a tree.

Now my truck looks like this:

http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h.../WP_000641.jpg
http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h.../WP_000642.jpg

what i need help with is what year ranger parts are interchangeable,
everything in front of the engine has to be replaced the only thing that survived is the a/c. the innner and outer fenders are going to need replaced as well. I'm trying to keep the budget around 2k i have more money but i'm trying to budget.

i've gotten just about everything off the front of the truck now.

for the spot welds do I just drill them out or is there some other technique?

Drill them out.

Check out this thread if you haven't already for what parts are interchangeable.

Hope it helps

air chisel maybe.

I would do x measurement on the frame. Just to make sure it's not bent.

Damn! Wish you were closer. I have a rolled 2001 with all the parts you need that is almost ready for the scraper. Its even red.

...and yes drill out the spot welds. They make a drill bit for spot welds. Think you can even get one from Harbor Freight.

I'm living in Valparaiso, you ever take your ranger to the dunes?

if you have a harbor freight near you, they sell spot weld drill bits for like $5 each, makes life super easy

I drilled out 6 spot welds and its taking approximately 3 minutes each with a normal bit. I was looking up some videos on those specific bits and it seems like it drills hella faster. Plus you can change the depth on some of them, hopefully the harbor freight bit is adjustable?

I've used the harbor freight bits too. They work good. You just cut through the top layer of metal. Leave the metal under to weld the new panel to.
