Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac vs. Authority Tire Comparison
Hey y'all! Im replacing my very bald tires that came stock on my ranger (225/70/15) and am sizing up to a 31/10.5/15. I have narrowed it down to the Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac and Authority. I was wanting a comparison between the two tires. Im looking for tread life, on road performance (dry, wet, snow, ice, etc.), and off road performance (gravel and dirt roads, mud, wet grass, etc.) I found them cheapest at WalMart, with the DuraTrac at $194 a tire and Authority at $158 a tire. I know the Authority is a Walmart special product, and heard it us not up to Goodyear's standards. Other than the Authority being $36 cheaper, it looks like the tread is closer than the DuraTrac, but I don't know if it makes a difference. If you can tell me about your experience with these tires, I would appreciate it.

If its not up to Goodyear standards why bother, you're gonna spend that kinda money might as well just go with the DuraTrac's my man. You won't regret it!

i have 33x12.5 duratracs and i went wheeling this past saturday going through mud holes and doing hill climbs and they were awesome...my ranger held her own with guys in jeep wranlgers that had mud terrains and lockers....only thing is they are louder then my old bf goodrich a/t's when im driving on the highway....all and all im happy i went with them all my miles are highway miles basically driving 60 miles round trip to school everyday and ive had them for about 5 months and i havent even noticed any wear

http://img.tapatalk.com/aefcc45b-ba2c-b627.jpgI got the authoritys from wallyworld. I am not disappointed at all.. they handle (and throw) mud like a boss =)
I can honestly do shit in one wheel(damn open diff lol) that I absolutely had to do in 4wd before, whether that is mudding, driving through snow, or crossing creeks =) now I have no personal experience with the duratracs but I think the authority tire is more than acceptable. I have put over 1.5k on them and the tread has not gone down any measurable amount.. As you can see, mr lincoln is almost burried.. sent from my android via tapatalk |
Re: Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac vs. Authority Tire Comparison
I have the authority tires and am quite happy with them. They are a little softer rubber so they will wear down a little faster, but they handle great in rain and snow. Had them on for just over a year and don't show much tire wear except a little because of a bad alignment.

If its great price vs. quality. I'm sry but u can't beat tread-wrights

Re: Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac vs. Authority Tire Comparison
it seems like a lot more people reccomend the duratrac's. I think I am going with the Duratrac's this time. I like the idea of a harder rubber that lasts longer. I might get the authority next time to see for myself how they compare. Thanks again everybody!
