Tow Hooks On A 2wd Possible?
Last night i saw a 2wd ranger edge with tow hooks.they looked like oem ford hooks. Would it be an easy thing to add?
|
yes may have to drill holes in cross member
my truck had the holes in the crossmember |
All Torsion bar trucks have the front crossmember required for those tow hooks, regardless of 4x4 or 2wd. ALL torsion bar trucks I've seen have had the holes for them, but some people report not having them, though I've never seen one.
Coilspring 2wd's, different story. They need some fabrication done for them....gotta add a crossmember that ties into the bumper brackets on the frame. |
My truck is an edge 2wd (it has torsion bars)and it has two holes on each side where it looks like tow hooks should go. Do i have to take off the bumper off to install them?
|
No they can be installed with the bumper on there

Once again thank you guys for the help! You guys are awesome! I'll be making a trip to the salvage yard tomorrow!

WTF are tow hooks?
|
Them shiny things on the sides of the license plate...

I didn't get a chance to get to the salvage yard today, but hopefully tomorrow or the next day. What do you think a set of hooks should cost? Also what era ranger hooks will fit on my 03? I was thinking 01+
|
If I recall 98+ tow hooks work but I may be wrong and trucks 01+ came with tow hooks
The hook style like this will cost around $30-$50 dollars http://img709.imageshack.us/img709/3349/ssl24773.jpg Tow hooks like this hard to find and would cost $100+ http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...5/P6290210.jpg |
ay what would i have to do to get me some? i got an 08 ranger coil. Probably have to weld a bar up and get some hooks huh?
