I think I gave you specs on the wrong trans! my bad friend! I gave you info on the T5 not the M5OD!

According to this link below it is 5qts.

Re: how much transmission fluid goes into.....

Five quarts for a single fluid change, 10 for an almost complete fluid change. You can only do 5 quarts at a time though.

Re: how much transmission fluid goes into.....

Ok I had to drain my tranny when I was dropping it so does that mean 10 qts?

Re: how much transmission fluid goes into.....

There is no way it's five+

Last time mine was empty it took just over three I believe. Don't quote me on that though.

Yea for my manual I think it was around 3.
Easy to do. Drain it out the lower hole then fill it from the top hole until spills out. I put thread tape on too. Ur manual has the required capacity and type it's all in there.

Re: how much transmission fluid goes into.....

It took five quarts both times I changed the fluid on my Girlfriend's Explorer Sport which uses the same engine, transmission, and frame. Total fluid capacity is 10.3 quarts. Now, this was on ramps, so the incline may have allowed the transmission to drain more. The Haynes manual does confirm that a fluid change is nominally 3 quarts for the automatic and 2.8 quarts for a manual.

Concerning the fluid asked about. Dex/Merc fluid will work but Mercon is better. The dealership would recommend going with the latest fluid, which is Mercon V. The Haynes manual also recommends Mercon V for an automatic but only states Mercon for a manual, no version number was mentioned.

Re: how much transmission fluid goes into.....

Crawl under your truck behind your drivers front tire, look at the transmission. There is a fill plug a little bit higher up than the drain plug.

So we are confirmed 2.8 qts?
