Advice

I am soon planning on buying a 3.0 l 2000 ford ranger. it is from a used car dealership, and has a great exterior/interior. it does have 112xxx miles on it and is priced at 6 grand. I was wondering if anything typically needs replacing on the 3.0 ranger around this milage; and second how do you guys feel on the price.

Re: Advice

It depends on what work may have already been done to it and we dont know enough about the truck to say if it is a good deal or not. Extended or regular cab?

X2

Car add of said truck would help.

I'm personally not feeling the price no matter what it looks like. Couple things to bring up would be the mileage and your best bet would be to nit pick everything, but not to much because then the dealer could just tell you hes not making you buy the truck.

Maybe $6K out the door, tax title and tags. Not sure where you are but I think you can do better. Just a FYI, my 2004 popped these codes last year as I was driving it off the lot. Dealer picked up half the cost but still. Not sure if this would affect a 2000 but worth some research.

From looking around they probably gave someone about $4,000 for it. I dont think its a terrible price but you could offer them $5,200. Be happy if they come down to $5,400.

Looks nice but they all do until you get it home and find the gremlins. On the Warranty read it closely. Mine had one and I had to have the heads rebuilt. Well in the fine print it said the dealer would cover 50%, which he did. Better than nothing considering it was a $1500.00 bill but I didn't catch that until I was already commited to the deal.
