Door ajar Sensor
Where is the switch/sensor located on an 01 Ranger with extended cab?
Evertime i take a corner the door ajar light goes on for a second. :( Thanks in advance for the help |
Re: Door ajar Sensor
If you got a super cab (the half rear doors). i have the same thing, i found some DW-40 on all the latches and shutting the door hard. Mine does the same thing, its a common issues with the door latches sticking.

Re: Door ajar Sensor
Someguy,
Thanks for the reply. I have the half doors, but, there has to be a sensor or switch somewhere. Has noone else has found it? repaired or replaced? For now, I will drown it in WD40, but, sounds like a patch instead of a fix. Thanks Chipsta |

Re: Door ajar Sensor
its located inside the rear door you'll have to pull the door panel to access it

Yes it is a patch, but a cheap one. Most of Tom's links say dw-40. Do it, if the problem goes away, I say keep doing it. There's a reason most ranger drivers keep dw-40, duct tape, and a rachet set in their trucks lol. I have to do mine about ever 3-4 months. Which is fine by me, because it costs like nothing and being a broke college kid, cheap is good |
Re: Door ajar Sensor
If you take off the rear door panels. In the hole in the door, where the door pocket goes you can reach in and trace the door wires down to the door latch.
You can remove the 3 torx bolts from the underside of the door and you should be able to move the latch enough so you can pull it out of the hole in the door It has a connector that u can unplug or remove the sensor and replace. My rear door had the same problem on the driver side. The dash light was on and the dome light was on. I have yet to put a new one in since I took my sensor out. I just left it unplugged. |
