Battery Discharging While Driving

Kind of weird ... but the battery has enough charge in the morning to start the old girl but loses the charge after running a while. Put a new Interstate battery in the other day and it's still discharging when driving.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

Its discharging because that is what it's supposed to do when your alternator is broken and not working.

Is the battery light on? Can you check the voltage with the engine off and with the engine running?

I was wrong. The battery was not discharging. It cranked real slow ... or not at all .... so I thought it was the battery.

Turns out it was the starter. Put a new one on and it's running great now.

Just wondering though .... when the oil filter is taken off ... there's usually some oil going on to the starter. After 150,000 miles of oil changes ... could that be a reason it failed?

Probably not. Its under the truck in the rain and dirt 24/7. They get old and fail.
