Godd start for sure

You have any plans for tires and wheels down the road

Jay FX4 11-29-2009 07:09 AM

Looks awesome, well done!

+1 on the "vent shades". I have the same ones, I just wish they didn't have the AVS logo on it. I loathe logos....

mcpink 11-29-2009 07:38 AM

No solid plans for tires and wheels yet. Still looking and thinking. Probably get the BL first, but we'll see. May need new tires before that happens.

I'm not too fond of the AVS logo either, but I figure it'll fade over time.

STL 11-29-2009 07:44 AM

Paint thinner will remove that logo :D

RangerNDog 11-29-2009 07:52 AM

Looks good. For wheels and tires I say just get a set of 32's and that way when you put on the BL you don't need new tires.

STL 11-29-2009 07:58 AM

Ya I would defiantly get 32's that way you can go for awhile before the lift.

Can't tell if you're serious or joking...

Does that actually work, without screwing up the plastic? If so, I'm doing it.
It looks like it would just scratch off, but I didn't want to try it and scratch up the plastic.

RangerLuc 11-29-2009 10:05 AM

if your going to actually wheel it, i wouldnt go bigger than a 31 w/out the BL. i cranked my t-bars and when i flex hard, my 31's rub. just my $.02

Fx4wannabe01 11-29-2009 10:43 AM

Looks good. That Toreador Red is really really really starting to really grow on me! lol.

One thing that'll clean the look up is ditching those non-factory steps in favor of factory steps or no steps at all. Maybe coat that valence with Duplicolor Bedliner too...make that baby black! hehe. Just some things to think about.

usmcwpntech 11-29-2009 10:45 AM

Looks good. Please don't change the wheels! If there's one thing I really like about the Ranger it's that they typically have pretty sharp looking wheels. There's only one aftermarket wheel I like, I think it's AR, a guy on here with the sharp looking red Ranger has them, their polished aluminium with a bunch of holes. Otherwise I'm not a fan of most of the aftermarket wheels. But hey, it's your truck, so of course do you what you like brother.

That looks like a very proffessional instal for the Hella switch, nicely done.

usmcwpntech 11-29-2009 10:47 AM

Those things look pretty close to my factory steps that came on my 2010. I don't understand why the hell Ford is putting steps on a Ranger? Unless your about 3' tall you're not going to need a step to get into it.

usmcwpntech 11-29-2009 10:50 AM

An another note, I know a lot of issue with changing wheels is not so much the wheel itself, but the backspacing. When I had a Jeep and went up in tire size I went with a Spidertrax wheel spacer. That allowed me to keep my stock wheels and prevent rubbing. I wouldn't go with any cheapo wheel spacers for obviousl reasons, but never heard of anyone complaining about spidertrax wheel spacers, the reviews were good all around. A bit more $, but worth it for the piece of mind.

I agree, they're pretty useless. I didn't have my Ranger very long before they came off.

But the girls use the step sometimes....

Yeah...only reason I've got 'em on my truck...girls use 'em everytime to get in the truck. I kinda hate 'em but I keep 'em there since the truck is so large. And I chose a style I liked and could deal with. lol. Same reason I put in "oh-shit" handles in it too....for the females that'll be riding shotgun.

OP's are aftermarket but lookalike copycat of 98-05 steps. But unfortunately, they hang way too low compared to stockers...my only real reason for mentioning it.
