FORD MECHANICS and OWNERS?? 1997 ford ranger?
How can i reset the check engine light???
Where is the sensor for door ajar indicator?? |
you can reset it by using a scan tool or taking it to a shop, some of the smaller shops will just plug in the tool and read the code for free. the door pin on a ranger is impossible. mine bugged me so much i ripped out the beeper and yea..
|
the code by scanner or unhook your battery for 1/2 hour.
door buzzer is in the door latch |
.
yeh the door sensor on my exloder is in the latch too, took me a while to find it.
not sure how to repair other than start taking it apart. |
Theres a micro switch in the door latch for the door ajar light that tends to get gummed up and stick. Spray some WD 40, electric contact cleaner or something similar in the door latch and open and close it a few times. Should fix it right up.
|
Yeah that sensor is in the door latch most def....spray the thing down with WD-40 and open/close 10 times and it should fix the prob. Sounds funny but it works.
|
Don't take it to a shop, they will charge you for it. Take it to autozone, they will clear the codes for free.
|
Negative. Auto Zone changed their contract and they can't clear the codes anymore, only read them for you. At least they did here in the wonderful Commonwealth.
|
to clear the code just pull the cable off the battery for like 20-40 minutes... it clears it everytime. just pull it after ya get home, and leave it sit till you drive it again.
|
Check engine light can be "erased" by disconnecting the Negative battery cable for like a half hour.
The door ajar sensor is in the latch, If you're having issues with the door ajar light staying on, spray the latch down with a good bit of WD-40 and open & shut the door a couple times (a little harder then usual) and that should fix the issue. Had the same pro on my '97 and it fixed it right up! |
