Upgrading Body Panels

Hello,

Are there ways to change out the body panels on slightly older Ford Ranger's (late 90's) to those of the newer rangers ( 03-04 style)?

thanks,
Josh

i dont see why not. my flares literaly just snap on and the lower valence can be fitted with brackets onto an older frame.

the front end is the only differences, and you can swap on a newer front with the replacement of the header panel, hood, fenders, grill, bumper and lights.

98+ trucks are virtually identical save for some external plastic parts. 93-97 are a totally different story and require alot more parts. I won't cover 97 and olders.

for a 01-03 front end you need a header panel, grille, headlights, headlight retainers, misc screws/jnuts.

for a 04+ front end you need a header panel, grille, headlights, headlights retainers, hood, misc screws/jnuts.

Bumperwise, all 98+ are interchangeable from the frame forward. Meaning, bumper and all associated brackets would be needed to run whatever particular bumper you want to run, from the frame horns forward.

Fairly easy swap. Straight up bolt-on stuff. Here's my buddy's 98's before and after(01-03 total swap)...

What type of hood scoop is on the red one?

wesvo 11-30-2009 02:40 PM

could be done for around $400.00 bucks not bad for a newer truck look:D

Was done for about $20 and was purchased on close-out from Hillbank. It's a SLP/Roush Thunderbolt Ranger hood scoop.

On your hood Joe, I'd get a 99-04 Mustang GT hood school. Thunderbolt scoop would look like ass because you've got a hood that 'dips' down in the middle. The GT scoop grille is very tall, and can be trimmed to fet that groove perfectl. The Thunderbolt cannot.

Didn't know they still offered 'em. I got mine for $20 about 3 years ago. What I typed above is the reason why I didn't run it.

Add radiator core support and front frame horns.
