Instrument Panel Interchange No TACH to TACH?
Just a quick question.
I have a 94' 3.0 5 speed with NO TACH in the cluster. Can a 94' cluster WITH TACH be swapped in directly? It obviously looks like physically it can be done but how about wiring wise? |
Re: Instrument Panel Interchange No TACH to TACH?
Someone please coorect me if im wrong, but I 99% sure you can swap it directly over. The wiring should be the same. My '97 was a direct swp, no prob.
Here is a write-up on how to do it >culster swap Here is write-up if you need/want to swap your odometer over> odometer change |

Re: Instrument Panel Interchange No TACH to TACH?
i thought you have to add a ground for the tach if your ranger is a v6...might be mistaken though

Re: Instrument Panel Interchange No TACH to TACH?
nope, When I chaged my cluster a while back, it is simply plug and play, no other shananigans whatsoever
|
Re: Instrument Panel Interchange No TACH to TACH?
so for the cost of a cluster with a tach you gain not only feeling your rpms but seeing them on the tach? and all id have to do is remove the old one and replace it? if so im definitely adding this to the list of future mods :)

Re: Instrument Panel Interchange No TACH to TACH?
I have done this swap on my 93 and all i did was swap in my speedo and plug and play.
To the op just get a tach cluster from a 94 ranger with a 3.0 and a auto trans and all will be good. |
So with my 93 3.0 v6 no tach, I just find a 94 cluster with a tach and literally just replace it?

92-94 explorer with tach will work
|
Sweet thanks

Re: Instrument Panel Interchange No TACH to TACH?
i actually was at the junkyard today and saw one with tach was an easy find for me
|
No 92 won't work there was a wiring change between 92 and 93 just find a tach cluster from a 93 or 94 and it will be direct swap just swap your speedo and plug and play. But now if you have a 2.3l and you are getting one from a v6 truck you will need to adjust the tach so it will be accurate u have to turn the white and yellow spots on the side of the tach all the way to the left then its all good.
