1993 Auto transmission fluid type and how much?

Hey guys, next week Im gonna change my transmission filter and fluid, but I dont know what fluid to get and how much, its a 93' V6 4.0l XLT Ext Cab, it changes gears a bit rough but drives fine, so this is next on my list of repairs.

Alright since ive have posted this, Ive learned that it would be Mercon ATF that was replaced by Mercon V, drain and keep the fluid to measure how much you took out, the problem I have come across, is that the I dont know when the last time this tranny had a tranny fluid-filter change. If I change it, the new fluid would have detergents in it that would loosen up that debris and would eventually kill the tranny, so should I just see if the fluid is low and top it off and start saving my nickels and dimes and just rebuild it or buy a rebuilt one.
