Fuel filter, 1998 ranger 3.0
I need to know if there is a trick to getting the fuel filter off. I have releaved the fuel pressure, taken off the clips, pulled on the fuel filter, pushed then pulled on it, doused it in WD-40, and even banged on it a bit. I am stuck...anyone have any advice where to go from here?

Go to the top link first and look at the pictures, I know it says F150, but if you look at what the fuel filter fits you will under stand, plus this is the only link I found that has pictures that show what you need to do.
The second link is a You Tube that shows how to do it. You will need a Ford fuel line tool, most all auto parts stores carry them, there are at least 2 different styles. Both do the same job. http://www.fordf150.net/howto/fuelfilter.php http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=31U3srwo74U Ray |
you can rent the tool from auto zone for free or buy them for about $10-$20

WOW!
Are they that much now? I think I only paid $5 for the set I bought a couple years ago, that was after I miss placed the set I bought in the 90's. No matter what the cost is, if you are going to have a Ford and do your own maintenance on it, you are going to need to have a set. Ray |
