Remote Control Door Locks on 2000 Ranger XLT?
I recently bought a 2000 Ranger XLT. It has electric door locks, but I didn't get a remote control with the keys for the vehicle. I'm just wondering if the XLT trim level included remote locking. I would think it did. If it did, I assume I can get a new remote control and program it to operate the locks. Correct?
If anyone can advise me....please do! THANKS!:) |
Re: Remote Control Door Locks on 2000 Ranger XLT?
did your truck come with the owners manual? i think it's explained pretty well in there. my trucks got the remote locks, if i remember what i read they are part of the passive alarm system. if you've got a "theft" light that blinks on the dash, then you should probibly have the remote. but i could be wrong, like i said the owners manual would explain it better.

You can get the remotes on Ebay relatively cheap but you will have to get them programed....

Something tells me that that will require a trip to the dealer?

Your manual should be able to tell you how to program them. Similar to replacing the battery in one which has to be reprogrammed.

Re: Remote Control Door Locks on 2000 Ranger XLT?
1. Turn ignition from OFF to RUN 5 times within 10 seconds, with the 5th time ending in RUN. Door locks will cycle to confirm programming mode.
2. Within 20 seconds press any button on first keyless remote. Door locks will cycle to confirm programming. 3. Within 20 seconds, press any button on second keyless remote. Door locks will cycle again to confirm programming. 4. Turn ignition to OFF. Locks will again cycle to indicate end of programming mode. guess i should have scrolled down... |
