The '94 project begins...
Hi all, just recently joined up on frf. Glad to be here as the community is quite helpful and straitforward.
Just picked up my 94 2.3L 5-speed RWD Ranger two weeks ago with 160,000 miles; liked how it rode when I test drove it, all the fluids looked and smelled fresh, so I picked her up for $750. The previous owner told me all it needed was two new rear tires (they were completely bald) and an exhaust donut; the price seemed right, the truck ran fine, so I picked her up. Long story short, after driving her for 20 miles, I checked the coolant and there was a bunch of oil in the reservoir. My write-up on the headgasket, timing belt, tensioner, etc procedure: Proceded to start buying every necessary part I would need for the headgasket job and actually just got her running a few days ago. :D Parts to date: Code:
Felpro head gasket set She still has a long long way to go, but as soon as I find two rims and title her up, she's going to be my daily driver :] Future mod list: Wax/buff New front and rear bumpers New headlights New running lights etc. http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c2...0827111909.jpg http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c2...828111621a.jpg My ford family (both mine - that's an '89 Taurus in the back with 200,000 miles): http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c2...827111930a.jpg http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c2...0829111621.jpg http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c2...827111909a.jpg |

Re: The '94 project begins...
Thanks lol. She's a beater, but now that I've finished a bunch of top-end work, I've gotta start saving to improve the overall performance and look of the truck. :]
Dark purple was not my first choice of colors but what choice did I really have for $750 plus a couple hundred in parts? :P |

Re: The '94 project begins...
Just sold the '89 Taurus today for $500 (same I bought it for).
Tossed in the new exhaust pipe I had for it, registering the Ranger tomorrow (new DD =] ) |
Re: The '94 project begins...
Registered at the DMV today - I think they knew what my truck has been doing to me...
They gave me these. http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c2...0831011839.jpg |

Re: The '94 project begins...
hahaha, purple was a HUGE color in those years, 94-95. Everyone I remember or even see today is that purple. My highschool lady friend had a 95 ext cab 2wd that color. It was a manual too, I rodded the shit out of that. (well, both of them actually) :D

Re: The '94 project begins...
Installed a new exhaust donut today, spliced the two lines coming off the solenoid (or whatever it is) and combined it to one tube going to the EGR tube. :]
Maybe that will make the truck chill on the CEL. |
