Help with self repairs

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how I can fix this problem myself. I have a 96 ranger XLT 4x4. As you can see in the pictures, I'm probably going to have to either do some welding or have to replace the piece entirely which I'm trying to avoid.

Get a saw cut that one part off get a piece that is a adapter and connect them back
