Grinds going into 3rd

So my manual trans grinds going into 3rd if im over like 2.5k on the tach. If I let my rpms fall, or shift fuel efficiently there's no issues, but who drives "fuel efficiently" all the time. is this something that draining my fluid and putting new in should take care of, or is it a syncro, or should I just not worry about it.. I tend to just skip 3rd if I'm in town and don't have to worry about hills..

its most likely a syncro. my 2nd gear went out 2 years ago and i think it was because the guy i bought it from towed it behind his RV while the truck was still in gear.

Wow. That's shitty for you, but f*cking stupid of the po of your truck..
But if you did it yourself, do you know what getting a syncro replaced invovles? And if you didn't, do you remember ballpark price you paid to have it done?
