3 inch drop question

Hey guys, quick question, can i use the djm 3 inch rear drop on my truck? It says its for 98-03 or something and the smallest drop they have for the rear of my 97 is a 4 inch. What i want to do is do a 3 inch to level my truck now (i've measured) amd then once i get my beams later on, put my stock shackles on so its a 4 inch drop, or do a 1 inch lowering block. Make sense? Thanks

Re: 3 inch drop question

What the 3 inch flip kit consists of is the flip kit perch which lowers 5" in the back along with a 2" lifting shackle. 5-2=3.

With your 97, the flip kit perch will lower 4", so you would need a 1" lifting shackle.

So i should just go with the 4 inch kit right off the bat? Or will my plan with the 3 inch kit work? Lol. Im a bit confused.

Re: 3 inch drop question

3 or 4 inches in the rear alone will give you a backwards rake.

If you're going 4" in the back, I would lower the front 2 or 3 inches to give it a level stance.

Re: 3 inch drop question

Well my front end has already sagged or something. From the edge of the fender lip to the ground F/R is 29/33 inches. So i can do a 3 inch rear and still have a 1 inch rake. Then when i get money down the road to do my dream beams. Ill do those and drop the back an extra inch.

That's what you think: But in reality, it will look wayyy cali'd out.

My rear end was 3" higher than my front end before I lowered it. And my 3/4 kit almost completely leveled it out. It sits 1/2" higher in the rear. I'm at 27" front and 27.5" rear height to the top of the fenders.

Re: 3 inch drop question

But even my wheel gaps are way different. I have like 2-3 inches up front then a huge gap i can fit my head in in the back. Like the bodyline down the side of the truck goes through the top edge of the rim up front and goes over the top of my tire in the back. And my rear tires are slightly taller. BTW can you send me some pics of your truck? Ive seen you post a few times and always wondered what it looks like. Also how difficult were the beams? Mind you, my truck has some rust since im in the NE.

Actually, i just looked through your album. Your truck looks great man! Im not a huge fan of the mach 1 rims. But none the less a beautiful ride. Im liking that billet grille, info in that?
