Re: bigger tires with a 4banger
if you regear youll be able to handle 31s with a 4:10 ratio. if you go 4:56 you could run 33s. you can run 31s stock no lift.

Re: bigger tires with a 4banger
u think the engine would be able to handle the 33s? ive heard alot that 33s wont be carryable by a 4cylinder?

Re: bigger tires with a 4banger
you can run anything with the right gear ratio.

Re: bigger tires with a 4banger
i'll post pictures tomorrow, I had 1993 reg cab short bed with 32x11.5x15 BFG a/t on alum alcoa's.
I had a 3.73 gear it was fine in city but sucked on freeway pretty much 5th was just for flat cruising. i recommend 4.10 for 32's. was it doable heck ya would I run that set up again.... no |
Re: bigger tires with a 4banger
thx ill probably go with the 32s 4.10 u think itll be good on road? my ranger is my only vehicle (highschool) and so its gota be able to get me to work and school and back but i still wana kill trails

Re: bigger tires with a 4banger
yea 32s and 4.10s youll be fine. no prob.
|
Re: bigger tires with a 4banger
how hard is it to do the gear ratio? where do i need to get the new gears junk yard or a shop?
|
Re: bigger tires with a 4banger
u cld run 33's with a 4.10 np, atleast with the 4.0 i kno u can

Re: bigger tires with a 4banger
what id do is go to a junkyard and get a ford explorer 8.8 rear end with the 4.10 gears and swap the axle in. thats the cheapest. a rebuild kit for your axle would be around 300 bucks. plus theres the labor costs to put them in, and a new axle would be less than $200. good luck, make sure that it has 4.10s, and if youre lucky itll have limited slip

Re: bigger tires with a 4banger
he has to match the front gears to the rear also. he has 4x4
|
Re: bigger tires with a 4banger
right colin, great point, but since he has ttb setup, itll be an easy swap if he can find a front axle off a post 97 ranger or explorer
|
Re: bigger tires with a 4banger
^ where does he say he is 4x4?
|
Re: bigger tires with a 4banger
look at the toyo open country a/t's trhey last awhile and they are agressive for offroad use
---------- its in his sig. he needs to find one first lol 4.10 in a 3 rd gen is hard to find |
