Non Ford auto question

My wife has a 2001 Saturn SC2. For some reason the rear tires got bald real fast, I mean amatter of 6 months. The tires were brand new and now they are down to the steel belts. Its a front wheel drive car, has rear hubs and brake shoes. Anyone know what it could be from?

There a lot of weight back there? Is someone switching her tires in the middle of the night?! I wish I could help but I can't I hope you get some answers!

It has close to 160k on it. There isnt alot of weight in the rear. I'm a bit miffed by this, I've never seen this on rear tires before. The one tire was bald, I thought it was rotated from the front because it just had ball joints, hubs and all that junk put on. The other side seemed ok when I looked at it a few weeks ago and now it looks like a friggin slick!

is she carrying alot of weight? what type of tires did you get??? it could just possibly be a bad set of tires unless they have always done this.

Re: Non Ford auto question

Did she curb it?
Does it go straight down the road?
Is the Ebrake releasing?
Are the brakes releasing?
Pull the wheels.
If it's not the brakes, take it to an alignment shop - the cost of having it checked could be saved in the cost of tires.

The brakes release, ebrake seems good and it is goes straight

Its never been curbed, this started right after all that work was done. She isnt even sure if it was aligned, family friend mechanic ya know?! But if it needed an alignment, wouldnt the fronts be messed up?

Now unless my wifes is taking corners and pulling the ebrake like the Dukes of Hazzard, I have no friggin clue!
