IAC Trouble
Hey guys alright heres the deal my engine idles funny when in park and in drive. the rpms go up and down. I have cleaned my Mass air flow sensor and cleaned my IAC valve like no other (a lot of carb cleaner lol). Dont know what to do next. replace the IAC valve or what? Oh and when i unplug my iac valve the idling issue does go away. thanks

Re: IAC Trouble
Replace the IAC, I killed mine when I cleaned it

Re: IAC Trouble
alright ill try that. another question i know it has nothing to do with engines but i was thinking about a 2inch leveling kit. will it be able to fit 31s? and what is the best brand

Re: IAC Trouble
You may, but I'm not too versed on that with the older trucks and springs
|
Re: IAC Trouble
back to to the IAC valve is there anything else it could be? like TPS or something else ha
|
Re: IAC Trouble
I would think its just the IAC. I did the same thing and worked on it for 2 days thinking it was the TPS when it was just the damn IAC
|
Re: IAC Trouble
just changed the iac valve and it still did the same thing. so i put the old one in unpluged it, started my engine turned it off pluged it back in and now check engine light is on. wtf:mad:

Re: IAC Trouble

Re: IAC Trouble
Need to know what the code for the check engine light is.
|
Re: IAC Trouble
yeah im about to go borrow my neighbors code reader to find the code
|
Re: IAC Trouble
did you check all of your vacuum hoses? i've never had a car idle with the IAC unplugged unless there was a vacuum leak.btw i've also been sold a bad iac before...long shot but still possible

Re: IAC Trouble
hey just to let you guys know my engine light did go off. but my problem still persists with the ideling. heres the deal when im in drive and stoped at a light or what ever and can see my voltege meter go up and down with the the up and down idleing my lights also dim too. could it be a bad alternator or a bad tps???
|
Re: IAC Trouble
I would check the alternator, it is possible it is reducing your RPMS when the throttle is not engaged. Do not, however, rule out the IAC.
|
Re: IAC Trouble
is there a way to check the alternator?
