cruise control problems

I have a 98 ranger and am having some issues with the cruise. I ran the cruise test and it came back with a bad brake pedal switch. I replaced the switch but I am getting the same problem. I also replaced the switch in the brake master cylinder but no luck.

One thing I found sorta by accident is that if I push down the brake pedal the test goes through as good (one flash) but the cruise still does not work. The light never comes on when I try to engage. The test also comes back good if I disconnect the brake pedal switch.

Any ideas what is going on? Could I have another bad switch?

thanks

Re: cruise control problems

i bought this from my inlaws and they bought it new. I think it has had the recall done because it has the small harness with the fuses between the pressure switch and where the main harness is. I think that is what was put into place for the recall. I checked for continuity through that little harness and got it on both wires.
