Steering wheel doesn't return after turning
 

97 Ranger 4x4 4.0L V6. Steering wheel won't return after making a turn, especially to the right it feels like it binds up. Truck doesnt feel like its in 4WD, hubs are unlocked as well. I know the alignment isnt perfect but it just started to do this a couple days ago. I have just started recently using the A/C on the truck but it does it all the time not just when the A/C is on. Steering has always been a little loose, wasn't sure if i snapped something, something seized up, the gear box is shot, or if I just need an alignment(going to schedule one tomorrow). As always, any input/ feedback is much appreciated.

no leaks, power steering is quiet (I know, Ford and quiet power steering pump are not usually in the same sentence) and level is in the appropriate range.

Turned out to be Front Passenger U Joint, kinda what I figured.
