Say Hi to Katie

This is Katie, my 2005 XLT with a 3.0 auto trans. She's named after this girl named Katie who lived in my dorm freshman year, was a very attractive blonde, and drove a red edge extra cab.

First Suspension Upgrade: BTF Uniball Upper Control Arms, Fabtech 3" lift spindles, Camburg CRS 2.5" Coils, Bilstein 5100 shocks, 10" Limit Straps. My sway bar has been removed since the pics were taken.

Rear tube bumper, I think it looks like shit, but it was cheap and came with an amber dust light.

TIG welded to my truck

Alon hit me up after he built his front bumper, he had extra frame horns cut out. I swooped on the chance, and changed how mine were welded as opposed to his.

The only pic I have that shows the down tubes. It rained, so at the first chance I got I sanded it and painted her. Everything is 1 3/4" except the side supports are 1 1/2"

Skidplate on, the bar is a 22" Vision X that I borrowed from Alon for a weekend trip.

I still use her as a truck, every summer I take a trip with my old high school from SoCal up to Yosemite for a week.

Third Suspension Upgrade: I sold the shocks a week later, traded the downhill bike for an 8.8 from an explorer with 4.10 and a limited slip and some cash, picked up a Ruff Stuff 8.8 Swap Kit, Diff Cover, and put my deposit down on a cantilever kit. I get 14" of travel before my drive shaft hits my gas tank crossmember, and only use 8.5" of shock stroke.

Lights on my vehicle come and go as they please. I get bored very easily with the set ups, and drive a shit ton. I've had 2 Hella 500's that I converted to HID (seen on stock bumper in the Pismo Pic), a borrowed 22" LED bar, 2 9" Baja Designs Sol Teks that I converted myself to internal ballast HID for $40, and now a 10" LED bar behind the grill with plans for more LEDs to come.

Alon asked me a little while ago to borrow my truck to make this, a lower arm crossmember.

Some time around here, my tires wore out. I had 32x11.5 BFG Mud KM1's that I HATED. Worst tire for a DD, especially once they wore down more. Anyways, I have a buddy who is a racer for Yokohama and he hooked me up with a set of 33x12.5 Geolandar A/Ts

My ABS sensor is hanging down on the passenger side, I couldn't decide at that point if I wanted to re-connect it or not.

And that's how she sits now. Everything suspension wise will be changing hopefully soon, as well as many other upgrades.

Impressive.

Thanks for the compliments everybody. I'm feeling that my next upgrade will be a 2 piece drive shaft. After that, my new job gives me access to a full machine and fabrication shop. I have some d35 hubs with brand new bearings, rotors and everything for the long travel kit I'm going to put on this eventually, as well as some 2.5x10" dual rate Sway Away coil overs sitting in my closet. However I think I'm going to sell those parts in favor of our race hubs, and get some 2.5 King coilovers and bypasses (I have a friend who works there). A cab cage will be going in, and at that time I will most likely switch to a traditional bedcage, with the ability to tie my engine, cab, and bed cages together. It all depends on funds.

cuz my drive shaft limits my droop right now. plus, the 4" OD tin can POS shaft on there now is aggravating. i have a buddy who went from his one piece to a 2 piece and couldn't be happier, i guess it's all in the set up. also, getting a spare shaft and mounting it in the bed somewhere will be much easier if it's the rear section of a 2 piece. we'll see though, ultimately what might (probably will) end up happening is i limit my droop, or just clearance the stock cross member. laziness is a bitch.

Re: Say Hi to Katie

will that affect the pinch on the pinion angle? if you go shorter rear DS, the angle would be steep-e-er (is that a word..?? hahaha)

help me out on the "droop" is that like droopy pants, or like I dropped my pencil..!
