Bumper Misaligned
I bought a new 2011 Ford Ranger. The bumper has about an inch and half of gap on the passenger side and 3/4 inch on the drivers side I would like to adjust the alignment to at least make it even if not reduce the gap on both sides. It is not major just really enough to annoy me. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to align it. And what would be the littlest amount of gap that would prevent body damage.

Re: Bumper Misaligned
Grab a buddy, and loosen the bolts. Have your buddy hold it in place and tighten the bolts. Simple enough.

Re: Bumper Misaligned
better yet use your warranty and file a claim through your local ford dealership.

Re: Bumper Misaligned
I figured it would be easy I just wanted to make sure there were no gotchas I hate to use a warranty if it is a 5 min fix. Thanks for the help. Any suggestions on how much gap to leave in to prevent damage from panel rub?

Re: Bumper Misaligned
1/4 inch should do.

Re: Bumper Misaligned
your warranty is for ANYTHING that is broken, misaligned, not working, or missing on your truck. Hell, ford even replaced my headlight, foglight bulbs on my truck when it was under warranty.
why anyone would try to fix or replace a part on their truck while it's under warranty is beyond me. |
Re: Bumper Misaligned
Correct a warranty is for anything that is broken, misaligned, or not working. But it seems to me to be a waste of my time to drive 20 minutes to town. Ask the dealer to fix something trivial. Wait around anywhere from 40-60 minutes to get it done, then drive 20 minutes home. Using up an hour and a half of not only my time but also the dealers time when I am wholly capable of doing it in less time and not wasting the gas. It is a choice and one that I am more than willing to make. If you would prefer to go and have the dealer do it that is fine. But to berate me for not having them do it, that is petty. I would/will not argue that having the dealer do it is your choice and a perfectly acceptable alternative to my choice. But this is my choice not yours.
