i like the way 40's sound but ive heard some cammed 10 series on 4.0's that sounded sick....how much louder are the 10 series, the only thing thats holding me back is that cops in nj are pricks, do you guys think i could manage to get away with a 10 series without getting pulled over all the time?

I doubt it dude, the 10 series is for offraod applications therefore you will get pulled over. A guy on here (knightmare) says that he got pulled over like 9 times before he gave in and pulled it off.

Nope. I can atest to that. After getting one ticket and trying to get home, I would've had 8 more just like it if I didn't keep the ticket with me. The judge threw it out after I changed it and showed him the reciept. That was the last time I went court over the exhaust system. I did get a big laugh out of it when the judge called that state cop a barney fife wannabe and told him to shut the fuck up in court. I bit my tongue and when I got to the steps I let it all out. A few others came out and laughed with me. One lady pissed herself cause she was laughing so hard.

I didn't really give in, I was "forced" into changing it really. The older a flowmaster muffler gets, the louder they get. I found this out the hard way as I just stated.

Both are good choices for a 4.0. The engine is just big enough to make the muffler sound good, but not big enough to make it super loud. Those would be a good choice. Go with the Super 44. here's an old photo of my previous exhaust set up:

It's a Flowmaster American Thunder 40 Series. Single exit in front of the passenger side wheel. 2.5 inch single inlet and outlet (that's the smallest size you can get in both the 40 series and super 44). The muffler went about 6 inches behind the cab at that time.

Here's a photo of the actual muffler at that time:

I have something totally different now. Geico's bullshit engines caused the rear main seal to fail and my Flowmaster was banging off the drive shaft, driving me crazy. So one saturday I spent $10 bucks and had it lopped off. I drove around for about 3 days before going to this:

http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/m...re1015/321.jpg

It's a 28 inch long cherry bomb glass pack with the stock size inlet and outlet (2.25 inches) dumped one foot behind the cab. It still sounds like it did the day I had it installed, because the motor aint no where big enough to burn it out. You need a V8 to burn this one out.

Here's what it looks like today:

The paint is gone on it now after nearly 2 years of use, but it still sounds like it did when it was first installed. Andy, (Crowd88) has heard this exhaust along with quite a few other members on here. I've got videos of this set up. So if you want videos of this exhaust please let me know and I'll post them up as soon as I can.

Go with the 2.5 inch piping. Remember that you're dealing with a V6 not a V8 and the 3 inch piping would be a mistake. You'll lose power, mpgs, and it will sound like shit to boot. Plus it will bring some unwanted attention from the sound police as well. So go with the 2.5 inch piping and you'll get that sound you're after.

Yeah i can vouch for the Knightmares glass pack, its very understated in terms of ppl normally dissing glasspacks vs a tradition aftermarket muffler, but his glasspack has great growl. Its definitely worth a look to hear knightmares video to see if its for you.

What do you think Andy? Should I post those videos up for him or not? If you all look closely at the photo of my glass pack exhaust you can see the mark my flowmaster muffler made on my drive shaft.

The I would go for the super 44, i think it would be close to what knightmare has on without having the POPO after you :p

Thanks, they do have some that don't look like a tradtional glass pack as well. You'd love the turbo muffler they have. Mild at idle, but when you get on it it's a different story. I would recomend that cherry bomb turbo muffler they have in a second on a 4.0. It doesn't cost alot either.
