Front passenger axle seal leaking...need advice
Hey everyone,
Just bought a 1996 Ford Ranger XLT 4x4 in almost mint condition! Everything about this vehicle is working well (tap on wood) except that I noticed that after about a few hours of sitting I get about a quarter-sized leak under the front diff. I hoisted it and confirmed that it's actually leaking from the passenger side inside axle seal. I found out the amount of work involved in changing the seal and don't have the $$ to do that as I only use the truck for work, fishing and hunting so it's not a big deal as I will fill the diff fluid regularly but here is my question...can I use the Lucas Oil product to stop the leak or would you guys suggest just leaving it, dealing with it and filling the diff fluid every once in a while? Any other suggestions are greatly appreciated!!! Jay |

i recommend replacing the seal. while the job is strenuous and time consuming, it won't be that expensive if you do it yourself.

It cost me 2 bucks for the seal. But the Diff fluid will be the expensive stuff

Yea I know that's the absolute right way but I won't have time to do that or the resources for a while. I'm looking for a quick 'bandaid' for the time being so I don't feel bad parking in their driveway lol.
