New ignition goodies installed
Finally bit the bullet on a Screamin Demon. I was waiting until my next plug change to get one.

I also cleaned all the crap off that valve cover lol http://premium1.uploadit.org/gts007//Photo1704.jpg http://premium1.uploadit.org/gts007//Photo1715.jpg http://premium1.uploadit.org/gts007//IMG_6299b.jpg I havent driven it yet so I have no feedback on the new setup but I did it for the mileage improvement. Speaking of which, Im thinking of going back to my 32's and keeping the 33's as spares. |
Re: New ignition goodies installed
with the bodylift it should be a breeze doing plugs, just lift up the gap gaurds.

Re: New ignition goodies installed
what year is your truck?

Re: New ignition goodies installed
You bought an expensive coilpack and wires for fuel economy?? I'm not sure you're going to see any desired results from that. Pictures won't open at work, what brand plugs did you use?

So are you also going to PM every single member here, on RF, and RPS who has a Screamin Demon and reported better mileage and tell them the same thing you just told me? ---------- Quote:

I looked at what it would be like doing it through the wells with the truck on the ground and the wheels on, and believe me, my method was much easier ---------- Quote:

I'm not saying those people are lying. Please don't put words in my mouth. I don't care what those people said, did, or think they're results may or may not be. I'm speaking for here and now. All I said, and all I mean is exactly what I said.

Re: New ignition goodies installed
If someone says they got a benefit in power or mpg from something like this, it is usually because their stock ones were pretty much shot and reducing their power and fuel economy. By installing new ones you are just returning the engine back to stock form and function.

Re: New ignition goodies installed
Alright Fireranger, in a week or 2 I will report back with my actual mileage from a full tank of gas at.
|
Re: New ignition goodies installed
You're going to have to do a lot more than report the results of one tank of gas. That means absolutely nothing. You need to correctly track your mileage before the change through several tanks of gas, and that means in identical weather conditions and identical terrain and routes. Then do the same thing after the change. Just saying "I got .5mpg better in my last tank of gas" is completely meaningless.

Re: New ignition goodies installed
Yes, it is true.. the higher voltage from the performance coil pack will yield higher Fuel mileage.....
Provided the stock unit was faulty or week -OR- for some other reason, your stock ignition was not burning the fuel/air mixture properly in the first place. This falls into the same bin of myths as .. "These new 10mm ignition wires gave me 1-2 MPG gain over my factory 7mm wires". To this, Science says... "WRONG"... the proper saying would be "These NEW wires gave me 1-2 MPG gain over my old and shorting factory wires". At any rate, i hope you get some gains but at the same time, as an engine tuner and mechanic, unless your stock unit was faulty (and it could be) you will see the same. |
