Front wheel bearing swap now ABS light is on?
Ok so I changed out my two front inner and outher passenger and driver bearings thinking that woulda get rid of this humming sound my driver side was making. I was wrong the bearings where good so I'm assuming its gonna be an alignment issue as my friend told me my driver side tire seems to be at an angle when he passed me up on the freeway. Anyways my ABS light is on now and it seemed to kick in when I took it for a test drive. It goes away when ever I restart it then comes back on after a few second of driving. I forgot to disconnect my battery when I pulled off the hubs could this maybe be it. I'm sure I'm not the first and i also reused the same hub

Make sure it has a clean and solid connection. Could also d/c the battery and wait a half hour and try again.
---------- ABS plugs. Sorry. |

Re: Front wheel bearing swap now ABS light is on?
ok so i removed the hubs again and yes there was a little grease and grime in the magnet so i cleaned it up and reassembled it to find out that it didnt do nothing. i unplugged the two front and the one rear sensor and reconnected them and still no luck. i took out the rear sensor cleaned it and no change. there are days when ill drive for quite some time before it turns on and there are days when it'll turn on as soon as i start to move. keep in mind that all my breaking works aside from my abs. is there anyone out there that actually took care of this problem.

Re: Front wheel bearing swap now ABS light is on?
I recently had a similar problem but it was related to my bearings and hubs, the ABS would constantly be on. Once I replaced my old broken hubs with 2 new ones the ABS light went off and it hasn't kicked back in since. However since you said your hubs and bearings seem to be fine you might be dealing with more of an electrical problem.

Can you scan it like a CEL?

Re: Front wheel bearing swap now ABS light is on?
How about looking at what's actually happening at the rotating teeth on the hub/assembly.
if the teeth are different at ALL than stock, it won't work, trust me, I've tried on TONS of different vehicles. The teeth gotta be the same pitch/spacing, distance from sensor, etc. Look at the sensor while spinning the hub to visibly see and make sure it's spinning true and round |
Re: Front wheel bearing swap now ABS light is on?
I'll go ahead and jack it up spin the hub with the tire and see how the space is between it. It seems like the gap on the driver side is slightly bigger than the passenger. I'll see this weekend and post my results.
---------- [QUOTE=RWD HERO;424651]Can you scan it like a c My scanner dose t work on that year and I'm not up for paying a shop hundreds of dollars to get me to buy a whole new break system. If the problem continues witch it will I'll eventually pick up a superchip and that might be able to scan it.* fingers crossed* |
Re: Front wheel bearing swap now ABS light is on?
I have had problems with mine before when the plates on new rotors were backset different lengths, ended up just bending the edges of one out. Also to compare the slot sizes on the abs plate (if your plates appear to be different), drill bit shafts from a drill index work great, just be sure to measure at the same point on each one.

Re: Front wheel bearing swap now ABS light is on?
Keep in mind that these are the stock hubs all I replaced was the wheel bearing inner and outer. Is there any way I could of possibly loosen up the pick up cog wile I was beating the old race out. I'm pretty sure I dindnt hit it. I'll go under and check it out when I spin the tire and post the results.
