It should work as long as the screw isn't screwed into a rusty hole. If it doesn't work all youll have to do is find another hole to mount it to.

Okay. I'm always confused with grounds because they always say "chassis ground" and I'm pretty sure that's not my chassis hahah

Yeah that's not your chasis but it's grounded to the chasis it's self.

On every vehicle I've owned I have always grounded it using the floor pan. Just like you did the only difference is i sanded the spot and then wire washer screw. And I've never had a problem with it.

mine is screwed into the same place. i used a hole already there from the factory to attach the back plastic panel to the floor of the truck.

Just to make sure it's a secure ground, sand off the paint in the area where the ring terminal makes contact.

x2, remove any paint so that the ring gets a solid ground. it may work without doing so, but it wont be a solid ground.
