Problem starting my manual transmision

Im having trouble when i start my truck.(any time not just morning) When i go to start it I:
Put it in 1st
depress the clutch
and turn the key
...nothing happens i have to let out the clutch, keep the key turned in the egnition and the stomp the clutch pedal in and 9/10 time it will start up. some times it takes a couple kicks.
This doesnt seem right, so i could really use some tips. I have moved the floor mat all the way back so it doesnt block the pedal but that didnt do anything.

Sounds like the neutral safety switch is going bad.
