Mustang Dome Light question... Why do so many ppl do the swap??
 

The title says it really.. Why is it that so many ppl do the swap from the ranger dome to the mustang dome?

Only has one bulb and looks like it came from the 80s. Mustang dome light has 3 and looks like it was supposed to be in there from factory.

Lol ok that would explain it. I thought rangers all came with the style dome light i have which is this..

I believe 2002 they all started looking like what Alon posted. It may be a different year.

I have an 06 and mine is just a flat map light...no thrills and square.

The first thing I did the day after I bought my '03 was put on the mustang dome light and the third brake light with integrated cargo lights. Super easy bolt-on improvements.

That's because it did!:D

The base dome light in the 1983-2003 Rangers is the same exact dome light that was used in 1980-1996 F-Series trucks without the light group option. My 1980 F100 had this same light from factory. When I had my '00 Ranger I swapped the lights to see if they both worked in a different truck, and sure enough, they did.

In 2004 Ford got rid of the chrome base for this style dome light, and extended the plastic cover to touch the headliner. But it's still styled in a similar way.

my 03 has the bubble dome...i think it was 04 they switched
