don't do that^

there is a small gear inline with the cable that goes from the shifter to the indicator, turning it will change where the needle sits. I can get pictures for ya later if you want, its tricky to find.

Or.... pull the cluster apart, swap to a manual plate in place of the selector, and voila, no more selector to go off track.:D

lol, I figured as such. Just wanted to throw it out there for future reference. I fought the gear selector in my F100 forever. 31 year old brittle plastic just cracks in a new spot each day. No tension on cable = no selector movement. So in went the manual plate. :D

Take the bottom panels below the steering wheel, follow the shift cable down under the steering column. You will see its connected to a white box which is mounted underneath the steering column. On that white box there isa a dial, that dial adjusts then needle to where it has to be. You dont have to unscrew the white box, just turn the dial til the needle sets at the appropriate mark.
