driving the piss out of my ranger lately...

so things at home are getting rough, and im looking for work 3 hours away from where i live, as my only running vehicle i have been making the 300+ mile round trip to sacramento every weekend for the last month or more... this last weekend alone i put just over 700 miles on her... its killing me watching the odometer spin that fast, and watching my funds drain so fast too...

Been there done that lol. I put 25k on my truck in just a few months. It hurt but that's why I bought my parts truck. Its only got 120k on it. Lot better than my 200k right now haha. Rangers run forever no worries!

yeah i got a civic from a friend but its 3 hours out of the way to get it, and i need to get it running good first... makes things more complicated, plus with potentially moving soon, the last thing i need is more stuff at my house... but damn i think i gotta knuckle down and stop driving so much for a while, spending too much on gas, and spending too much time behind the wheel...

You're welcome to put gas in my BMW X5 4.4i. Ever heard the grass is always greener on the other side?

Here's a picture of it at "home".

Yeah you'd rather pay yours. It was the first Sports Activity Vehicle on the market a few years back. Made for driving like a car. 300 HP, 325 ft lb TQ V8, AWD, weighs 2.2 tons, 0-60 in 6.6 seconds............. Sucks gas like a keg stand.

Re: driving the piss out of my ranger lately...

yeah if i drive mine hard i would be getting a lot worse gas mileage, but i cant afford that, when i am on it hard in town my mileage drops 2-4 mpg on average just from playing a bit...

The worst thing you can do to a ranger for sucking gas is turn the AC on. LOL.

I do 90 miles a day, I did 1200 or so that last couple days to Wisconsin and back to TN. I've out 66k on the Ranger in 2.5 years, I spend something like 400 a month in fuel. It sucks, but I do it cuz I love her lol

Re: driving the piss out of my ranger lately...

i dont even use the defroster if i can help it in the winter, anything but just feet, or just dash turns the AC compressor on in these... i also run synthetic blend oil which i change every 3k-3.5k at most, sea foamed it, properly inflated tires, cleaned sensors, fresh tune up with a drop in k&n, but inevitably a ranger on 33s is gonna do bad on gas... gears would help if they werent so expensive. also got an electric fan i need to install that will help a bit.
