Replacing speedo cable?
 

So, I just got a 2000 xlt 4 banger 5 speed ranger.
The biggest issue is that the speedo isn't working and the guy told me that it needs a new cable.

First, is that the actual problem? If, not what could it be?

Second, if that is the problem then how hard would it be to replace that myself?

You don't have a cable it is all electronic.

It may be the speedometer sensor on the transmission that's messed up.
