92 Mustang seats installed in 04 FX4 today.
 

I, like I am sure many others, could not stand the Ranger seats. I have a bad back from a cycle wreck in 97 and the seats in the truck were killing me. So I installed a set of 92 Mustang GT seats but used 89 headrests (they are bigger and tilt forward). It turned out pretty well. I still have to install the console I ordered and should get to that in the next few days. I still have to pull the seats back out and paint the brackets. I also ordered an upholstery shampooer for the seats that I will have to get to as these were sitting in storage for a few years and need it. They are SO COMFORTABLE though and is a HUGE improvement. I cut and drilled the Ranger brackets off the sliders and did the same to the Mustang sliders. I then just welded the Ranger brackets to the Stang sliders. I set them up where they can slide way back.........my 5'11 frame cannot even touch the pedals if I move the seat all the way back, so all the leg room in the world. I bought some shoulder bolts at Lowes and they worked perfectly to install the Ranger female seat belts to the Stang seats.

I hope to get it all done in the next few days, but I am getting behind on getting my Mustang back together and it has a dyno appoint. May 20th, so that has to take priority. I will update when I get this done.

No me gusta. Maybe if they were recovered in leather or something. But they don't match truck at all

I may reupholster them later, but I have a set of seats I am doing for the Mustang now among other things......and have to get that car back together. I have the complete interior out of the car and am redoing it and adding meth before the dyno tune. This for now on the Ranger was not done for looks.....it was done for comfort.

Different for sure! I am sure it will look complete once the center console goes in. Nice work though, great idea and creative!

Heck yes! Modding for comfort FTW!

I like them, but I would have left the stock head rest on. That's my only beef with them.

If I reupholster them later this year, I will actually switch to the complete 89 seats because they are taller and I like the headrests better. I am doing one set right now in Mach I attire for my Stang. You can do them in many different styles and whatever colors you want for about $350. But really......the factory Ranger 60/40 seats do not look good. They look cheap and FEEL cheaper. Surprised so many people seem OK with them really. Personally I hated them and have only owned the truck for a month. They will be for sale soon as I shampoo them as they are never going back in this truck.

The Ranger would probably get this, but in gray with black inserts. I am just not in a rush cuz the Ranger for me is just my DD, used to tow the Stang to the strip, dogs to the vet, and pick up crap at the hardware store. Sometime this year though I will probably do it, soley because vinyl is easier to clean from work clothes. (obvioulsy I have alot of stang parts laying around).:

Well when you are wrong you are wrong, and I can admit that. After putting the console in, which is a different shade of black then I had in mind, now it does look odd. There are too many shades and colors going on so I am going to re upholster the seats afterall. I am thinking about just doing them with the same Mach 1 upholstery that I am installing in the Mustang, to keep it simpler.

On the bright side, the console does seem to be well built and is quite functional for use in the truck.

so that is like the smartest idea ive seen all day and i know what you mean i have back problems too and im only 19 and ranger seats dont really help

Like the console, was the the grey or black denim? I'm sure the seats will look great once they've been redone, I can understand the wanting more comfort too.

Black denim but the advertisement pic showed it as denim only on the top........the rest was black, so that is what I thought I was buying. You can see that in the original post of this thread. I'll live with it though.

My OEM Ranger seats are now listed in the for sale section on this site and on Craigslist.

I am going to reupholster these sometime this summer, but been working on my Mustang. It goes to the dyno next week and I will be finished, so will have some more time and money. If you scroll through the stang pics, you will find the interior I just got done doing in it.

yea, the newer ranger seats sucks. i love the older seats other than how easy they stain, but i think that is a ford thing, every ford i have had does it. the center console you got is nice but they don't last long i had one n my jeep and it got wet a few times and fell apart shortly after.
