Project BCMG COMMENCE!
Tomorrow, I bet if I do work I'll only be making a few deliveries, then I just have to practice driving for my road test, and pick up the tags for the Ranger and I am back to working on it. Here's a shot of the drivers side with the fixed exhaust valve (don't mind the messy work bench):
http://i494.photobucket.com/albums/r...Picture005.jpg No more popped and bent valve! http://i494.photobucket.com/albums/r...Picture006.jpg The passenger side is just as clean, but I put it in the truck (not on the motor yet). Also got a box of gaskets: http://i494.photobucket.com/albums/r...Picture007.jpg I also gotta drain the fuel tank since it's got 3/4 of a tank of 3 year old gas, put the drive shaft back on since I took it off to dolly it home, drain the oil and antifreeze and replace both, possibly do the same to the transmission (although it was done before I bought it according to the service records) and I think that about covers it for now. Next, I'll order some wheels and then nab the tires and the rear axle off of the B2 and after those are worn out, lift and step up to 33's. Hoping I can wear them down by the end of the summer so this winter I can work on the lift, lol. Since I'm planning on parking the Chevy, the Ranger will be the DD for a while. And just for shits and giggles, this guy's gonna help me make it all happen: http://i494.photobucket.com/albums/r...Picture771.jpg I'll update as I go ;) BTW, I forgot I need to order FRF stickers, lol. Since I got RPS and RF, might as well rep this site too :D |
Re: Project BCMG COMMENCE!
No progress was made today. I left for town too early to go to the title place, and I would not have made it up there from work at the end of the day. Tomorrow, I got my road test and if I pass, I gotta go up there anyway to do some more paperwork, so I'll grab the tags then. Then, it's back home for some beer and mechanican.

Re: Project BCMG COMMENCE!
Progress was made and then taken away. I just finished the passenger side and was putting on the drivers side head. I had the head on and was starting to put the rocker arms on when I realized that I forgot to put the lifters in (on the drivers side). So, after taking it all apart, I go in search of the lifters. Guess what? I can't find three of them!
I looked all over my garage, all through the Ranger, even in some spare boxes of parts I got in my parents barn as well as even tried using a couple that I found in the Bronco to no avail! So, I called down to Napa and got a price on the lifters. $45.79 a piece! I ordered two of them for now because that's all the spare cash I could do (got myself on a new budget plan that keeps my spending pretty tight, lol). I'll order the last one on Friday, though. |

Re: Project BCMG COMMENCE!
All parts have been collected, and the truck is now stationed in the grarge. Soaking the lifters in some oil over night, and I'll start working on it tomorrow at probably about noonish since I got to go get some more oil from up in town and go get groceries, lol. I can't wait!

Also gotta see about getting the AC recharged in the Ranger. Not sure if they do these old systems around here anymore, but I'll have to call around and find out. IIRC, it doesn't work in the Ranger. |
