California Ranger

Hello to all of you. I recently bought me a 1994 ford ranger 2.3 5 speed long bed XLT and 163k on it for 900 bucks. it passed smog on its first try with very little effort so im very happy about that. My only concern is that the head lights do not work and what i mean by that is if i pull the knob and twist it. but current . if i pull the whiper blade towards me the high beams come on and if i let go it goes off. Any info or schematics would be greatly appreciated. thank you very much.

welcome! so when you turn the headlight knob to on position nothing happens? but when you pull the wiper stick the high beams turn on? well then, your high beams are functioning so it may be a loose relay in the fuse box under the hood or in the kick panel. i cant provide a shematic because my haynes manual is 95+ trucks so it wouldnt be accurate. i would test the fuses and maybe see if the headlights are burnt out

Welcome. With the high beams, to get them to stay on you have to push the wiper stalk away from you. I believe pulling the stalk towards you is just to flash other drivers, never really get the point of that feature.
