Engine code p0340

I got a check engine light, and the code is p0340, the cam position sensor. Went to buy a new sensor from 2 different parts stores, and am getting the run around, because they keep giving me the wrong sensor. The sensor they gave me is for the 3 litre, and they keep telling me it' s for the 4 litre as well, but the sensor looks way different, and the electrical connectors won't plug into each other if any one knows the part number for the cam sensor for the 4 litre engine, I would really like to know so I can get the right sensor, thanx.

Is this were your looking at the cam sensor on the engine? toward the firewall? And does your engine really look like it's made of playdo?

Re: Engine code p0340

That's the sensor that Lordco gave me, but the sensor I need has the 3 pin connector@ a right angle pointing up, so the wiring harness plugs down into connector. Here is a link to a picture. http://www.therangerstation.com/foru...&pictureid=632

Thanx DiabloBlanco, I'll give them that part number, and hopefully it's the right one.

That link you sent , to the sensor, shows the whole synchro assembly, do you know if I can get just the sensor, or do I have to replace the whole synchro?

Re: Engine code p0340

Im sure you can get the sensor by itself. But its a very rare thing to find.
