Wiring for a 7-pin Trailer Connection
I have a 2001 Ranger that has a flat 3 or 4 pin connector for hooking up trailer lights, but I would like to add a 7-pin connector like
http://www.chuckschevytruckpages.com...pintrailer.jpg I don't need the flat connector that is currently there. Is there a way to put a 7-pin connector on my truck and if so can I get some direction? Thanks |
Re: Wiring for a 7-pin Trailer Connection
Yes, you can put the 7-RV plug on your truck. I assume you are going to be towing something with trailer brakes?
Here is a layout of the 7-RV trailer plug http://rvbasics.com/techtips/rv-trav...ug-wiring.html EDIT. I didnt look at your link till after i posted. In you link it shoes a 7 pin Round pin. thoes are typical of a Big truck(tractor trailer, dump truck) the 7-rv pug is more common on a pick up |
Re: Wiring for a 7-pin Trailer Connection
The link you posted is correct, I got the wrong one. Is it a simple conversion from the 4pin or do I need to run new wiring?
I would say the two trailers I will use the most have this setup and one has a brake system and one does not, just the wiring for the lights if that makes sense. |
