Little help needed.

Hello all I just traded for my 1999 ford ranger xlt extended 4x4 a few months ago and I was wandering if anyone knows why the key dinger,4x4, dome light, power windows, and the windshield wipers stopped working. Everything worked fine the last time I drove the truck and today when I got in it I noticed I had problems. I checked all fuses at the driver door and under the hood in front of the driver side. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Its behind the radio, pull your bezel and radio out its the little black box with a whole bunch of wires going to it in the top left corner behind the radio.

Yes its your GEM or there is a problem with voltage to the gem. Check fuses 10 20 25 and 28. If you end up needing to replace it you either have two version of the gem: XL5T-EA or XL5T-EB. Both have different interchange years and engines. If you post your part number I can give you the years and engines you need to pull one from.

Easy as pie. Just remove the two 7mm bolts holding in your radio bezel. Pull it out and disconnect the wires to your cigarette lighter, 12 volt accessory plug, radio connector and antennae.

To remove the GEM remove all your electrical connectors to it. Remember its the box directly to the left of where your radio was. Remove the 7 mm bolt at the bottom of the box. I think you either lift up or pull down on the box to remove (it has tabs it slides into). Reverse.
