Well summer is fast approaching and the mother in law has a small orchard that I have to cut. Last year it was taking me around 4 hours to cut it with my deere. NOT THIS YEAR!

I just picked up 2 like new mower decks, 1 is 48 3 blade the other 46 2 blade. My plan is to basically weld these together and power both decks with a B&S 18hp opposed twin motor that I have had since 99. The idea here is to tow it behind the tractor giving me a 142" cut! I think that I am going to end up shortening it up to maybe around 80-90" cut tho. I have to be able to pull it up on the trailer!

I actually built one of these things years ago. Our lawn tractor did not have a deck or wouldnt work or something, that one was just a 42" deck with a 6hp motor that I pulled behind it, my dad let some guy scrap it tho.

Anyhow, basically it will look like this when finished, just will have 1 on each side!

Oh btw, got both the decks for $75, guy wanted 65 for one, I offered him 50 sight unseen he said ok. Got there and he had 2, so I asked, he said 100. I said that to much, dont have it. Then he said, ah hell, take em both for $75!......OK!

Ill have pics from start to finish. I cant wait to get started, probably drag everything down to the basement until spring comes

HA! how badass is that, 142" cut, hahahaha, I'll have to keep my chains on the rear otherwise she wont be able to pull it!

My dads got one of those pull behind units that he pulls behind his ford tractor to mow there 5 acre feild, works awesome. Ill be watching this thread.

Thats awesome, last summer i worked at a farm that had a finish cut mower for the back of the tractor that was 6ft wide, and I thought that was huge! When you finish building this its going to be amazing! Cant wait to see it

that is an awsome idea, hell i ought to do something like that! post some build pics, that'd be a great way to use the 46" crapsman deck & B&S engine off of the turd tractor my dad bought...


ya know, if you make it wide enough you could just pull it behind your ranger! :D

Ok guys, well I got a break today from LED mods, waiting on resistors, hehehe.

So I decided to start working on my trail mower. I have decided that running one deck will be easy to fab up, will function better and there really just is no need to have another unless I'm spacing them 48" in the center, since I have a 48" cut on my tractor. I will over lap the rear deck about 6" of what my tractor cuts, this will leave me with a 7.5' cut.

I am going to cut on the black lines. The idea is to open up the front to take in grass. This will be boxed on the sides and top.

motor is electric start, I think I will run power cables from my battery on the tactor to the rear, something I can put jumper cables on. Throttle will be WTFO! hahaha. But in all reality it will have a small control panel, this will have the igniton, throttle and choke cable, then just throttle up and the governer will do the rest. For a tank, Im just going to build a platform and use a 3 gallon gas can. The motor has a vaccum operatred fuel pump, so should not have to gravity feed the motor.

Throw a turbo on that and watch it cut grass
you will be able to that that 4hrs and cut it down to 1 hr
