Best V8 exhaust
 

im gonna be gettin a 89 f150, 5.0L. it has a flowmaster force 2 cat back on, but its too subtle for me. its also a dual tank long bed. wats the best sounding setup for it, without scrappin the cats? and would the dual tanks keep me from doin a dual exhaust?

do single in, dual out muffler. i had a 98 f150 with 4.6 and did that with flowmaster 40 series. they sound so nice and are loud but not obnoxious

nice vids^^ cant beat the 40 series. dont get the 50 series, heard they sound not much different than a stock muffler

well for me, the sound of a glasspack or straight pipe i like. i dont mind that pop and crackle, but i hate the sound of running without cats.

i had an 87 150 long bed with the 5.0 and duel tanks and i still was able to run duel exhaust . u will be fine running duels. u will have to run it down the passenger side and have them split after rear axle. i ended up getting rid of the duel and had it straight piped and had 2 pipes out pasenger side like a lightning. sounded crazy but super loud lol.

don't want to overtake your thread but Dodge has some nice exhaust notes (the 5.2, the 5.9 and the new hemi are pretty sweet). I just wish my 4L v6 sounded as good as my brothers old 3.9L v6 he had in his 2003 Dakota, and his Dakota was stock.

I love the way 24 inch magnaflow glasspacks sound on a V8, just my opinion though.

my buddie's '86 F350 has a 460 / 4 speed combo and he's got dual pipes that run back, no cats, and end in 2 cherry bomb glasspacks right before the rear axle. gotta love the way that truck sounds, very nasty and intimidating. plus it's neat driving behind him and hearing the exaust cackle and see the flames blowing out under the truck :D

the 40 series on a 5.0 and 5.8 f-150 motors arent loud at all. lol a friend of mine has a 94 f-150 and we cut the 2nd cat out and ran straights. Its a single 2.5" pipe coming from the cat and then near the back he has a y-pipe with 2 3.5" tips coming out at 45s. its deep and loud when you want it to be

the cackle of not runnin with cats i hate. it sounds terrible. its just my opinion. i may put on new hi flo cats, have them come to a 2 into 1 y pipe, run glasspack, and lightning style tailpipe behind the cab. ill even gain horsepower by goin di/so, with better scavenging of the gases compared to straight pipe http://www.castheads.com/2into1_systems.php this page has a dyno chart of a corvette, comparing a 3in dual exhaust to a 2 in 1 exhaust collector. the 2 in 1 gained 20 horses at the peak of its hp curve. so it proves.

ya we like the cackle and popping sound of straights lol
