Hazzards and turns

Hey guys,
So here's the poop. My turn signals are only working when the hazzard switch is turned on but the hazzards are not working.
I checked the fuses and they are good, even replaced it incase it had a break I couldn't see and still no change.
I figure it's the relay but I didn't see it listed in the user manual. Is it in the power box under the hood? I see a bunch of others and the big fuses in there.
Thanks

Re: Hazzards and turns

So just to make sure I understand this correctly...

- When you turn just the hazard switch on, nothing happens?
- When you engage just the turn signal lever, nothing happens?
- When you engage the turn signal lever with the hazard switch on, the respective turn signal works?
- Question: Do the brake lights both work normally when you step on the brake?

Yes, yes, yes and yeah the brake lights seem to be working fine.

Hmm. I was hoping you would say I had that all wrong..... That's kind of ass backwards. Without a service manual wiring diagram, I don't have a clue. You've stumped me on this one. They are separate flashers. And having the hazards on overrides the turn signals normally too.

Anyone else got some suggestions??

do you happen to have tilt steering and drive with the wheel all the way down? if so try moving the wheel.

Nope, no tilt steering.

its weird the turn signals override the flashers. seeing they are supposed to be two seperate systems. i say go pick up a haynes manuel for its wiring diagrams (or sign up on autozone and get them for free) and trace the circuits and see if wires crossed or what not. thats the only thing i could think that happened.

i had the same exact problem. what i did was actually take of the turn signal stick and opened up the macanical part of it behind the steering wheel and all the copper had corrosion on it so i just cleaned off the copper connection and i was fine. Havent had a problem with it in the past 7 months with it

And the fix was....

A bit of drinking straw wrapper and gunk under to steering column cover.
I didn't even have to take the switch apart.

Thank you everyone for your input and suggestions.
