1997 4.0 2WD auto tranny issues
 

Ok, so i bought my second ranger this weekend (first one has finally died). It is a 1997 XLT Regular cab Long-bed with the 4.0 and an auto tranny in it. My issue, the tranny shifts real hard in and out of first gear. It clunks real hard when I slow down and clunks a little less hard when accelerating. It also feels like it may be slipping at times, but when I am up to speed (55 to 70ish) it runs great! I was raised a Chevy guy.. so please pardon my ignorance. Do I need to just rebuild it, replace it, or swap it for a manual (i prefer a manual)? Any help will be greatly appreciated...Thanks guys!
