'06 Bumper and Fender replacement

Hey everybody, I'm looking at purchasing a '06 Ranger, but it needs a little front end work. It is missing the valance, passenger side isolator, and the mounting hardware. It comes with a replacement bumper cover, but needs to be painted. So my question is, what is the range of years that will fit if I replace the bumper cover and valance? Are the bumper (steel part) the same? Salvage yards in the area don't seem to have '06 parts.

I'm used to Jeeps and there doesn't seem to be many aftermarket options for Ranger bumpers. An offroad bumper might look goofy on a non-lifted single cab anyway.

Are '98' to '09 fenders all the same, assuming it doesn't have fender flares?

Thanks.

06-10 make sure you get the upper and lower from the same truck, I believe you can go back in years also as long as you get all the brackets as well

Re: '06 Bumper and Fender replacement

Hey Kyle,

I'm in a similiar situation. Those 2006 + bumpers are a PITA to work on.
I'm trying remove a lower valence and fog lights from a 2006 + bumper. The lower valece was ripped up on both sides by some big 33" tires.
This is the bumper that's 90% plastic.
Right now I'm trying to remove the fog lights and there's one 10 mm bolt on the left side that is covered up by the plastic cover.(I removed one of the fogs by removing the two plastic pins from the bracket and removing the adjusting screw but I had put pull back on the bracket but I almost broke the bracket so I'm not going to do that to the other side.)
I see that there's all kind of plastic rivets holding the painted bumper cover on and I'm not sure if I should drill those out with a 1/4 drill or what. (I don't know what Ford was thinking when they came up with this design)
I tried to find one on Car-Part.com and all the 2006 and up Ranger bumpers are listed as being STX bumpers and I know that can't be right.

Hopefully someone will come to our rescue ... lol
I don't want to start drilling those rivets out without getting some advise first.

Looking on LMC truck it shows replacement rivets so Im pretty sure you going to have to pop those and put some new ones in.

Hey William,

Thanks for puttin that link up there. That sure answered a lot of my questions. It looks like you helped Kyle out too.
I called LMC and ordered the bumper cover hardware kit and they're pretty much just plastic rivets. It looks like the bumper cover aka bumper pad is one of the first things that needs to be removed but I need to figure out which size drill bit to use when I'm drilling them out. I tried to pull one out like it was a plastic clip and it just broke off.

You dont need to drill any rivits out to remove the valance from the upper bumper. There 6 maybe 7 10mm bolts holding it on.

FordFan44 - could you take a view pictures as you remove the valance? Since I'm starting with missing parts I'm not sure exactly what I need to put everything together. I may just have to figure it out as I go.

Sure, No problem ... I'll get some pics posted tomorow.
I learned today that the key to this whole puzzle is removing the bumper cover (the painted part) and you need to drill out the 16 plastic rivets holding it on. You can't really use one of those clip removal tools because the head of the rivet will just break off 99% of the time.
I also learned that without the fog lights there's 5 different pieces to this bumper. There's actually a cheap metal bumper behind the plastic cover.(You'll need that Kyle)
Now I need to know if I'll need a special rivet gun for those plastic rivets.

No offence Mykhael ... but you're thinking of the 2001-2005 front bumper style.
The 2006 + bumpers are totally different. There's a bunch of plastic clips that hold the lower valence on and it's a real b***** to pull off.

Thanks William,

Can you tell me which one I'll need? Or is it one of those one size fits all deals?

Thanks for posting that exploded view of the bumper up there. (Do you work at a Ford dealership?)
I can see where you might think HM1 is a push pin, but they're actually rivets because you need a Plastic rivet setter for these things.
If you think I can use plastic push pins instead of the rivets please let me know.
